Personal Spending and the Recession

The current recession is experiencing almost an order of magnitude greater drop in consumer spending than was experienced in prior post WWII recessions. This raises the question of whether consumer spending can be relied upon to pull the economy out of this recession as in earlier recessions.

A panel discussion on Startup Companies Using Cloud Computing was held on the evening of June 4th at the Vilna Shul on Boston’s Beacon Hill. Besides being all the rage, the advent of cloud computing services, such as Amazon’s AWS, offer startup companies new options for developing their products and services. Cloud computing can reduce the amount of capital necessary to get an idea off the ground, and can offer entrepreneurs new opportunities for starting and building businesses.
